The Integrative Synergy Research Collaborative (ISRC) is a research-focused initiative dedicated to advancing evidence-based integrative and functional health research through interdisciplinary collaboration, methodological rigor, and equity-informed inquiry.
ISRC brings together clinicians, researchers, students, and community partners to co-develop research that strengthens the scientific foundation of integrative and holistic health approaches. Our work emphasizes ethical study design, real-world relevance, and translation of findings into practice, education, and policy.
ISRC was founded by Dr. Linnette M. Johnson, a doctoral-trained clinical nutrition scientist and clinical research professional with experience in FDA- and IRB-regulated research environments. Dr. Johnson currently serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator II on the CARE Study, a federally funded initiative conducted through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in collaboration with the University of Utah, and is completing advanced clinical research training through Boston University School of Medicine.
Grounded in scientific standards and informed by clinical and community contexts, ISRC focuses on generating rigorous evidence for integrative and functional health modalities—including nutrition, health coaching, Ayurveda, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and mindfulness—while prioritizing equity, access, and inclusion.
Through collaborative research development and mentorship, ISRC seeks to expand who participates in research, how research questions are shaped, and how evidence is applied across diverse populations and settings.
Our Mission
ISRC’s mission is to advance ethical, inclusive, and evidence-based integrative and functional health research through interdisciplinary collaboration, community-informed inquiry, and rigorous scientific methods.
We aim to strengthen the evidence base for integrative approaches while ensuring research is accessible, relevant, and responsive to real-world health needs.
Our Values
-
Scientific Rigor: We uphold high methodological and ethical standards across all research activities.
-
Collaboration: We believe meaningful research emerges from interdisciplinary and cross-sector partnerships.
-
Equity & Inclusion: We prioritize research that reflects diverse populations and addresses structural barriers to health and participation in research.
-
Transparency: We value openness in research processes, communication, and dissemination.
-
Translation & Impact: We focus on research that informs practice, education, and policy, not just publication.
